National Tutoring Association Partners With Media InfoSystems, Inc.
On 2005 National Tutoring Survey

Results Presented at NTA 2005 Conference

(Los Angeles, CA – January 15, 2006) A groundbreaking survey of the tutoring industry was recently conducted by the National Tutoring Association (NTA) in conjunction with Media InfoSystems, Inc., a Southern California technology and business development company.

The findings of the 2005 National Tutoring Survey, the first of its kind specifically designed for tutoring professionals, include the major challenges facing tutors – training and accreditation, marketing opportunities and concerns, study materials, workplace options and the use of new technologies including on-line tutoring.

“As the only organization in the United States comprised solely of professional tutors, the NTA continues to experience tremendous growth. The information we discovered as a result of this survey will assist the NTA to better meet the needs of its membership now and in the future,” says Dr. Sandi Ayaz, Executive Director of NTA.

Media InfoSystems (MIS) has been providing computer system design and support for over twenty years. MIS’ initial frontier was the entertainment industry, where it created and installed a company wide syndication management system for Telepictures (now part of Warner Bros.) in addition to consulting and training at other organizations.  At the same time MIS President Bob Lasiewicz and his wife Nalini created and managed ShowBiz Expo, the premiere trade show and conference for the entertainment production industry, for over ten years. While continuing to serve other clients, MIS developed and maintained advanced custom tools for CRM, registration and marketing ShowBiz Expo.

MIS has developed “Crossroads of Learning,” a life-long learning, communications and collaboration network for professional tutors and trainers worldwide. The first offering is "Tutoring Foundations," an on-line tutor training and certification course developed with the National Tutoring Association and Fielding Graduate University.  “It’s a privilege to work with the NTA, and it’s members, to better understand today’s tutors and explore new technologies on their behalf,” says Mr. Lasiewicz.

The National Tutoring Association (NTA), based in Indianapolis, Indiana, was founded in 1992 for the purpose of establishing a membership organization for tutoring professionals. Over the past several years, the purpose has expanded to promote education, specialization, and scientific research. The NTA is now the largest professional association dedicated exclusively to tutoring, and represents the interests of more than 3500 tutors practicing in all phases of tutoring, program administration, and supplemental student services.
